Montana Branded Beef Association (MBBA)
Our Cattle
With the exception of cattle
genetically influenced by dairy breeds, Corrientes, or Brahman breeds,
MBBA does not endorse one breed or breed type in favor of another. MBBA
reserves the right to refuse enrollment or acceptance of any cattle based
on visual appearance, age, genetic composition, prior production and
feeding performance, and non-conformance with MBBA approved animal health,
production and nutrition standards.
• MBBA requires that all cattle enrolled in the program are harvested
prior to 30 months of age.
• Members must verify that no use of ruminant animal by-products or
prohibited mammalian tissues in feed or feed supplements has occurred.
• All cattle must be age, source and process verified when they leave the
ranch.
• Producers have the option of individually identifying each of their
calves enrolled in the program on the ranch or upon delivery to the
feedyard.
• Members enrolling cattle in the MBBA program must adhere to Beef Quality
Assurance standards and have a current BQA certificate.
• Cattle will be handled humanely with emphasis being placed on
maintaining animals that are healthy, sound and fit to enter the human
food supply.
The success of any beef program depends greatly on the health and
nutrition in the early stages of an animal’s life. Cattle perform best on
feed if they have a strong immune system, which is the result of proper
vaccinations, nutrition, and supplements. While MBBA does not have a
recommended nutrition and vaccination program, members are advised to
address their veterinary and nutrition needs adequately, which may include
external advice from an unbiased expert or veterinary professional.
